You could do a "this is your life" take on it - great if you could organise some surprise guests.
Photos are always enjoyed, you could ask your guests to bring along some too (relevant to your mum - of course).
As long as your mum doesn't mind having a quiz based around her then I'm sure it will be fine. For my mum's 60th we organised a bouncy castle for the kids - but couldn't keep the adults off it - till they tipped it over of course!!!
Hope you get plenty of ideas and enjoy the night!

Have you asked her? I mean it is her b-day maybe she wants to stay in or just do something with you . do you think she would really want to announce she's the big"60" not too many people do and by putting her childhood pics out in the open might be embarrassing and depressing take her out to a nice diner and a show or take her to a spa and get a massage tell her I said Happy Birthday!

U can do a lot to make her happy, maybe taking her out for side seeing.
Hosting your mum’s birthday in your family house, inviting friends and well - wish and all that.

when we did this for my mother in law we had it at home and we got large glass jars and all the grandchildren painted them with things from the decades. Then we had candles in them to glow during the evening. The glass jars were from a chip shop - the type that hold gherkins and they did not cost us anything, we then downloaded lots of information about her birthday throughout the decades and had them posted around the house for people to look at

MUM'S FIRE
Serve in dimly-lit room.
Pour two shots of good bourbon into glass without fruit or ice.
Pour one shot of 151 rum on top. Serve as is onto tabletop.
Ignite 151 rum as flambe once it rests atop flat surface...
Ask her to make a fast wish and blow out the fire.
After fire is out, add ice, and let her make a toast.
WARNING - Do not let fire burn long enough to shatter glass.
Suggest reader practice using boubon and rum until happy.

We hired someone to play music from her time. She really liked it. We also did a kind of roast where all her friends stood up and told some silly things they did.

How about putting together some video clips of her through childhood through until now. And you can use her favourite song or something as the background.
