Sometimes it can be both. Depending on how much you loved that person. If you in a really pissed off mood you say things and do things do that you don't mean and sometimes you end up hurting people. The reason why it would be hard to let them go is because you still have love for them, because if you really love them trust me it will take time to get over them so it can be hard to let go. It can be hard to forget because the love you had for that person will still be there and it will hurt to see them move on and it will be even harder when you think back on all the good times ya'll shared together and all the plans ya'll had made. Either way you'll go through one or the other. However I'm sure you'll get through it. Good luck!

It's harder to forget because long after you've "let someone go," they can creep back in to your memory when you hear a song, visit somewhere you've been together, or meet an old mutual friend. It's always harder to forget...

I would agree with the general concensus that it's harder to forget. I have had people in my life who were not good for me, and who I was forced to walk away from. However, I still miss them, and think about them often. You can let someone go due to circumstances, but the times you had with them are a part of your memories forever. After all, if they were that easy to forget, odds are you wouldn't need to walk away from them in the first place.
