do u want to tour or just hit the twisty roads hard? if u want cheap, get 1 of the 1200 sportsters. mid-range price and a decent tourer, get a heritage, this 1 will have the saddle bags and windsheild added from the factory.
road kings are 1 of the most popular for long distance riding, but they can be in the 19,000 range.

Go to a Harley dealer and check out the different models they have and choose the best one to fit you. The 883L is the least expensive model they offer and it is lowered for shorter riders and ladies. My suggestion for a first bike is the 883C which has a larger gas tank than the 883L and this bike can be lowered if needed. It is a nice bike but you will have to change the seat, the seat that comes with the bike new is terrible. A new touring seat will run you $150-$200 but is well worth it. If you can't afford new, which will run you about $120 a month, try checking local car dealers who also sell motorcycles. You can find some used bikes at a lower price but the payments will be higher for a shorter amount of time. The other option would be through the paper or trading post. Look for a 2004 or newer, they were built with rubber motor mounts which has made the ride much smoother. You can also yahoo, "Christian Motorcyclist Association" find your local chapter. You will find a great group of people who will help you with your quest. Good luck!!!

Good for you! I think that women on bikes is inspiring. What I would recommend is to get your license Thru the state bike course. Why put your bike on the ground? All new riders do you know. There are lots of used Harley's with low miles on them available, go to a dealer and find what you want, then save yourself a lot of $$$ by buying a 1-3 year old Harley.

Buy a Honda. Harleys are overpriced, and their maintenece records are horrible, you'll fix it more than you'll ride it

If you're a new rider go with something cheaper and lighter. A Buell blast wouldn't be a bad idea if you only want american made.

what style, what price range, first time biker or expiernced?
harleys are what other bikes dream to be so choose wisely.
Also i agree with the first answer, they are overpriced which explains the 2 year waiting list to get the right one..no wait that cant be right
