I'm writing essay for a scholarship and I'm stuck at this question: "Why do you deserve this scholarship?". I am really confused as to what kind of an answer do they want. Can anybody please give me an example of an answer for this question so I would at least have some idea of how to answer.

Well you could tell about hardships in your life and how you overcame them. You could also talk about how hard you worked in high school and how you feel confident that you will succeed in your chosen field and become the type of person who gives back to the community. You could say that without scholarships, a very itelligent and vital person might never have the opportunity to go to college. You could say that it's been your dream for as long as you can remember to go to college and become a ******. That should give you a lot to go on. Pax - C.

What they mean is: "What can you do for us? How will you make us look better?"

That's because institutions don't just give scholarships out of generosity. They have the whole application process so that they can see who would make them look better. If you've got a high GPA, or many tournament titles, or lots of community service, then the institution can use you as a reference to attract future paying customers.

So just tell them all of your merits, honors, good character traits, etc.
