He said I was 1 cm and 50% Efaced what does that mean?

OK Is it good to be 50% does that mean I will go sooner than I thought? I know it dont mean Ill go Today or This week, but will it most likely be sooner than I thought??? Is this normal fo 35 weeks?

Your cervix has opened to one centimeter, (a full 10 is when it's time to push), and your cervix has effaced (thinned out) halfway...

It means that your uterus is 1 cm opened up for baby (at 10 cm you push. Most people will be 1-3 cm dilated for about 2 weeks before labor but this varies with everyone). 50% effaced means that your uterus is 50% thinner than what it was before. At 100% effaced you push. Though you can be 100% effaced for awhile if you are not dilating. The braxton-hicks are doing there job in preparing you for real labor. Your body is getting ready for baby. I was 1 cm and 50% effaced on Sunday. It means that your cervix has opened 1 centimeter (it will be 10 centimeters when you deliver), and your cervix has thinned half of the amount it needs to in order to deliver. This sounds about right for 35 weeks. I am having contractions now, I am 2 cm dialated and 80% effaced, with contractions 2-5 minutes apart, and they sent me home. You will probably not be delivering any time in the next 24 hours or so, but hang on, it will be very soon! Congratulations on the new baby to be!

It doesn't mean you will go early! It only means that your body is getting ready for the birth. My sister was 3 cm and 60% for 3 weeks before she went into labor. I was only 1/2 cm and 50% when I went into active labor (had my son in 3 hours). It just depends on your body! You will know when it is time - trust me!!!

Your cervix is dilated 1cm (will be 10cm when ready to deliver) and 50% thinned out (will be 100% during birth). Sounds like you are making good progress! My contractions started when I was about 2.5cm and a little over 50% I think. Good luck:)

Honestly it means nothing...I was 1cm and 70% at my 36 week appt and I'm 39 weeks now and still the same. It just means your body is preparing itself for labor you can stay this way for weeks.

this is just the begining of it...you got a head start some people while pregnant dont even get effaced or dialiated..but i wouldnt expect anything to happen for the next couple of weeks..good luck and congrats..

It means that the baby is on its way as your cervix has started to thin or stretch (efface).
