I can't seem to sleep without raiding my fridge at midnight. I wake up feeling like crap, and it's not good for my digestive system...anything I can take to kill off the hunger?

Yeah, I go to bed earlier. Don't know how old you are, but I'm old enough not to care much about staying up late, so, I brush and floss my teeth early, and then go to bed when I'm tired. Seems like it's something I do when I stay up late waiting for kids to come home! Also, I try not to keep tempting things around, that helps alot!

Eat an apple, banana, or eat a small snack before bed, your body is hungry and its trying to tell you that. If you ignore it you'll most likely feel like crap anyways.

or

You can eat Oatmeal as a snack slightly before your late night cravings come on. Oatmeal is mostly fiber so you digest it really slow, You ever seen how thick oatmeal is when it is prepared? That should keep you fuller for longer and its healthy.

I eat spicy olives (I am not kidding). Dominicks/Safeway keeps a Kiosk of many kinds of olives, pickled peppers, Giardiniera and pickled mushrooms. They don't have to be spicy. But I like them that way. I keep them in the refrigerator cold. They seem to stop my cravings and make me feel fuller at the same time not contributing to too many calories. Try it. It might work for you too. Make sure you wash them thoroughly to get ride of the salt if you are buying bottled olives.

Also, there is a threshold after which it is hard to stop eating. Try not to go past that line.

Hi! I become famished in the evening and can't stop picking at food. What I sometimes do is have a protein shake. Protein makes you feel fuller for longer.

I drink a chocolate flavoured soya protein shake. You can buy it from your health food shops.

Do you eat white or wholemeal pasta, bread and rice? Get into wholemeal. It releases energy for longer and avoids burnout that leads to binging.

Most Americans are chronically dehydrated. Anytime you drink sodas, coffee, alcoholic drinks, or tea, then you are actually SUBTRACTING the amount of liquid you need to stay in prime health. For example, if you require 1 gallon of water per day, and you spend most of your day drinking the above mentioned drinks to the tune of about 1/2 gallon per day, you are now NEGATIVE 1.5 GALLONS from your optimal hydration. Anytime you are dehydrated, the body may send hunger signals instead. Also, you are slowing your metabolism down. Start drinking tons of water and the hunger pangs will go away!
