I have an AMD 3000+ and I'm using WinXP SP2

I use my computer mainly for gaming.

I built this computer from scratch and now I realize I never installed the Via 4in1 drivers. The system seems to be running just fine, so I'm wondering if it's OK to skip the installation of those drivers.

By default, winXP has fairly updated drivers for the VIA chipsets. They will work fine, but if you want full performance out of the computer, installing the newest drivers will help. Though it wont be by a huge amount.

Via 4in1 setup installs IDE Busmaster, VIA AGP Driver, IRQ Routing Driver, and the VIA ACPI Registry.
if your useing it for gaming, i would recomend installing it for the AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accelerated_Graphics_Port )

You'll probably find that windows has installed them for you. Look at Device manager in My Computers properties to see if you have any yellow triangles, if you have those are the drivers to install. If there's no triangles it doesn't need anything doing.
