Last summer, the Supreme Court reviewed his policies on phone-tapping within the United States without a warrant, found them unconstitutional, and ordered him to stop.

Currently the House and Senate are conducting hearings into suspected corruption in his administrations, including his Chief of Staff Karl Rove. That's a very big deal. Good luck in class!

The Executive branch is supposed to be checked by Congress, who controls the budget, enacts laws, and has the power of impeachment.

And he's supposed to be checked by the Judicial branch, who can issue court orders or hold that certain executive actions are unconstitutional.

The problem is, Bush is just flat out ignoring Congress and ignoring the Courts. The Supreme Court has ordered Bush to do several things relative to detainees in Gitmo, and Bush just flat out refused. And Bush repeatedly signs bills into law along with signing statements where he admits he has no intention of abiding by the law.

The fall-back is then the Attorney General, who is supposed to be neutral and to enforce federal laws. But we've all see how well that works.

That's the problem. Bush is just flat out ignoring the laws, ignoring Congress and ignoring the Court. And whether his goals are noble or not, the idea of the President as being untouchable and beyond any legal challenge is terrifying.

Avoiding that abuse of executive power was the entire reason this country was founded in the first place.
