I had this problem with a used car I bought once, I bought this industrial air freshener at the local food store, I sprayed everything, headliner, carpet, seats and all..... then after that put a few air fresheners in the car and let it sit with the windows rolled up for a few days.

febreeze works well. Take out the floor mats and hose them off with soap and water.
Spray entire car inside with febreeze including headliner ,carpet and seats.
Wash all windows with a good window cleaner. wipe widow cleaner on the dash and then use a protectant like armor all on the dash vinyl.
Air dry with windows open.
some detail shops have an electronic deodorizer. They leave it in the car overnight . I found that the smell returns after a while.

Yon need to get a good quality foaming car interior cleaner, not one of those dash shine products and give the whole interior a good clean. Use a sponge or a soft brush and follow the instructions. You will have to leave to dry for a day or so but it should do the trick. . It is also a good idea to clean the headlining and the windows as they build up a film of tar.

Have the interior professionally cleaned and detailed, if there are pollen filters in the dash change those out as well, get a spray that not only masks the smell but helps remove odor.

You can try cleaning seats and flooring with some carpet shampoo including the interior of the entire car. You may also use any kind of cleaner that has a stronger smell to it .

Get your car detailed. It's a little pricey sometimes, but they'll make your car brand new inside and get rid of that smokey smell.
