Hi there, Hows this for old fashioned thinking. Women clean, men mend/repair/install. Cooking can/should be two way thing, lots of men are good cooks and the time you come home from work plays a big part in that decision. Heavy work men do, less physically demanding jobs women do.
Share it out!!
Sorry, definitely NOT a "New" man.

Well, I do everything, because I live alone, but if I were to divide up the chores, I'd probably say:
Men - take out trash, do yard work, fixing things, changing lightbulbs, maintaining vheicles, cleaning out basement & garage, etc.
Women - cooking, cleaning inside of house, doing laundry, etc.
That may sound old fashioned, but that's the way I am. If I ever have a husband, that's the way I would want to divide things up. That being said I would never refuse to do any of the chores I listed as male chores, nor would I expect a guy to say no to me, if I for example asked him to cook or do laundry or something. And it's not like I want to mother a guy and not expect him to do anything. He does need to do his share around the house. I expect a guy to know how to cook and clean and do laundry, etc, so that they're not helpless if I'm gone.

So much for feminism, but like i always said feminism only applies when it is convenient for the woman. Out of courtesy and manners I believe that some chores should be done by the man of the house. But if you want to follow the train of thought then I as a man should not have to vacuum, clean, cook, do laundry etc. and you don't have to do the lawn, paint and repair the house, fix the car. Be careful what you wish for.

No, chores are not gender specific. I am a single mom with 3 girls. If I thought the way you do, we would have a lot of trash lying around our house. It is people like you who make it so difficult for women to get equal pay for equal work.
Welcome to the 21st Century, honey!

are you serious? so if hubbie goes away for the weekend you do what? you take the trash out. because it's a human cleanliness thing. not a gender thing. partners should each pick some of the crappy chores and some of the ones they dont mind as much and share the burden. it's personal preference, not gender related. though certainly we tend to think of things based on our cultural biases towards women and men.

lol - my husband does a lot of work around the house, and taking out the trash is his favorite job. Good thing, too! I have only one job in the whole house I object to him doing: cooking. He is a lousy cook and a slob in the kitchen. I won't have him messing with my stuff. Other than that, he's a real help!

It becomes gender specific when a particular gender does it best...i.e. I wash the dishes thoroughly and my husband doesn't. I clean the toilet thoroughly and he does not. He washes and shines up the car because I'm too short to reach certain spots and wash so slowly that the soap dries up. Now if the trash is full and/or overflowing, I'm not going to wait for him to get home to take it out, I'll do that myself.

I don't go anywhere near the loft/attic - dusty dark and smelly, definately one for the hubby.
As for me, I wouldn't let my husband near my washing or ironing, he did it once after my daughter was born, and put it all in the machine together, everything went in the tumble dryer and made a pigs ear out of the ironing so never again!
