If the doctor is giving antibiotics be sure to give all of it and don't quit giving it just because your daughter quits having the symptoms. . . I made this mistake as a new mother.
Don't use a dry humifier, use a cool mist machine. You could be drying her out. Coughing is a necessary evil to help the body rid it'self of phlegm and you may be drying this up and for a bit your daughter seems ok but them when the medicine is done and you quit the dry machine the coughing begins.
Some of the medicine the doctor is giving your daughter may be to help break up phlegm and to help bring it up but the humifier stops that process.
Cool mist machine helps to add the moisture your daughter needs to loosen phlegm.
Also,if your daughter is experiencing a runny nose with this coughing you can use nose drops to help relieve the cough.
Post nasal drip caused by medicines used to break up congestion can trickle down your daughter's throat and tickle her throat and enhance the cough factor.

Another thing,DON"T ever allow any machine whether it is a vaporizor or a cool mist blow directly on your daughter. . . this can add to your problem. . . .the fact that it is in the same room with your daughter is enough.

Good Luck

It sounds like the doctors are treating the symptoms, and not the issue that's causing the cough. If it's a dry cough it could be a seasonal allergy issue. Try having her put on an allergy medication. Also, try seeing a homeopathic doctor. They're doctors, but they tend to look at the bigger picture, and are more interested in getting rid of whatever the cause of the cough is rather than just the cough. Good luck!

I just read where if you put Vicks Vapo-Rub on the soles of the feet, then cover with socks, it gets rid of night time coughing.

I haven't tried it, but my neighbor swears by it.

It could be alergies. I would see about taking her to one . She might be allergic to something and it's making her cough and the meds might control the simptumes but if you knew what she is allergic to you might eliminate it!
