I need to send an email to my favorite band for my Computer course (we're learning how to use email; isn't that funny)? I chose to send mine to Flogging Molly. I honestly don't care if they ever read it or not. It's just for an assignment. In fact, I would hope that they wouldn't read it--I have to include recent accomplishments of the band that I find interesting, and I have to ask them for an autographed picture. So which of the people on this website could I contact that wouldn't really care?

I was thinking that if I just contact SideOneDummy records directly, they would ignore it, which is what I want, essentially. Good idea? Or maybe the publicist? Something tells me the publicist would just shrug it off as another "OMG I'M YOU'RE BIGGEST FAN, CAN I HAVE YOUR AUTOGRAPH?" email. Which, once again, is what I'm hoping for.

What a silly class I'm taking...

Oh don't get me wrong, I would absolutely be overjoyed to receive a response from them and it's great to hear that they love their fans, but I would not want them to reply to this particular email. We just have to include the silliest things. My teacher actually wrote a guide to it, so paragraph by paragraph, we have to write things a certain way. I would never personally ask a band for an autographed photo. I would, on the other hand, send an email telling Flogging Molly how much I absolutely adore their music.

It's just difficult for me to send such a standard "autograph please!" email. I hate this assignment.

I know Bridget and Dave - if you send it to their publicist - he may forward it on to them. They are such nice people and really love their fans - they may respond...but then again you don't want that??

I would just find the website for the band (I'm sure they'll have one) and look around until you find a link that says "Contact us" Once you have this link it will automatically open up your email system for you and you will just have to type your letter. They obviously have hired people to read their emails so just type whatever you need to know and you will probably get the answers you want. The exercise is to show that you know how to send a proper email so carry on and do it.

send it to their publicist. Explain the scenario. Act cool in the e-mail, don't sound too bombarding. The publicist (hopefully) will understand. Tip: don't make the subject of the e-mail FAN MAIL, make it more like SCHOOL PROJECT. Good luck! :-)

I know this is bad but contact some one on their myspace page. I have done this with other bands and gotten information form them even if it is only their people who are tell ing you what to do to get what you want.
