They would above all be a pragmatist. They wouldn't look at the world through an ideological prism (unlike the current administration) but would find solutions that are realistic and practical, not ideological. They would be visionary in looking for new ways to solve problems. They would compromise with the other side for the common good when need be.
You would have an individual who would be fiscally conservative which means balancing budgets, reducing waste in government and eliminating needless bureaucracy They would provide tax relief where it is really needed: the middle and lower classes and not just for the wealthy.
They would also posses the ability to embrace new ideas, new policies, new reforms. They would never, ever base their policies on their religious beliefs or ideas (ex: the people opposed to stem cell research).
In conclusion, they would have a strong love of this great country and all it's institutions, especially the Constitution.
We already have people like this; they are called Moderates. Unfortunately, it's the loudmouths at the ends of the political spectrum that drown them out.

I think that more so-called 'libcons' exist already.
One thing I've learned after a few decades of adult life is that no one is so firmly in either extreme of a given group like 'liberals' or 'conservatives' that they won't vote for what they know is in the best interest of the community and country.
Rather than taking a cut and paste of traits one would consider ideal, perhaps a rejection of the extremes of both polls would be a better idea to explore.

My ideal would be one in which he combines the conservative's desire for total economic liberty with the liberal's respect for individual rights. That is, assuming the specimens were both of pure origin, with little or no mutation due to politics. However, in the real world, such a combination is called a "moderate," who seeks control over every aspect of your life. *sigh* Idealism is so depressing.

I consider myself to be a Liberal Conservative.
Meaning I base my choices on extensive thought, using my knowledge base and always thinking about how my decisions will affect the future.
