it seems somewhat inaccurate, but how will we ever know the truth?

Carbon dating is very, veryi accurate, but with a specific (known) margin of error. We can tell if a bone, for instance, is 2000 years old plus or minus 50 years, but we cannot say that it is 2006 years old.

Hi there, I've never managed to get a lady friend by using carbon dating so I don't rate it much.!!!! Oh well, back to chatting up the women in Asda.
Cheers,

It is known to be highly accurate because its results have often been cross-checked by other methods, e.g. counting tree rings, or sediment layers in glaciers.
