You will live longer, because You will put off retirement (which leads to declining health).

You get to use the hindsight you wished you'd had with your own children when they were young.

Cons: none.

In my opinion, parents are the first choice to raise children, grandparents are second choice............unless it's the grandparents who messed up the children in the first place when they were raising them. In that case and outsider would be preferable. But as far as parents getting their act together and getting the children back from the grandmother............I absolutely think the parent is always the best one to raise their children as long as they can do it responsibly. A child needs the love and guidance of his/her parents. It's just built right in us.

According to my experience, grandparents can raise children very well especially in today's fast moving and challenging lifestyle. I know someone whose children were raised by her parents and she lived in another country for job...but as they grew up they still love their mom very much. It depends on grand parents, they should train the children and keep telling them that their parents are also important and love them more than anything else..

Pros:
- kids will be closer to you, and vice versa

Cons:
- parents aren't as close as they should be
- you just said you're a single grandmother, if there's a boy, he won't have a male figure in the house
