To try to explain the size of an ATOM , visualize the size of the full stop at the end of this sentence. ← It is made up of more than 1 million atoms.

AN ATOM - is defined as,

‘The smallest part of an element which retains the properties of that element’.

There are about 103 different elements. So, there must be approximately 103 different types of atoms. The way in which atoms are made up, governs the type of element made by the atomic particles.

The main particles which make up an Atom are as follows:-

* Protons - These have a single positive (+) charge and a mass unit of 1 (one).

* Neutrons - Have no charge and also have a mass unit of 1 (one).

* Electrons - Have a single negative (-) charge with a mass unit of 1/1840
These mass units are relative (comparative) since it is almost impossible to measure the actual weight of an individual particle. The Protons and Neutrons form the central part of an atom - known as the ‘Nucleus’. The Electrons move in ‘orbits’ around this nucleus.

An atom is so very small
That you can't "rite" on it at all.
But go into the nearest John;
Now there's a wall you CAN, right on!

If you were to look in wikipedia, Encarta, or even just do a google search I'm sure you'd find MANY paragraphs - some of which would be suitable for you to plagiarise.
