Just because people spend more money than average on a pair of jeans does not make them a "snob" as some people have stated here. It is simply because people like quality. And let's face it, a lot of the time the more you pay for something the better quality it is. I choose to buy expensive jeans for several reasons. Firstly, with my petite size it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to find a pair that fits. I have noticed that with the higher end brands, they offer more sizes and it is way easier for me to find a good pair. Secondly, I like the colors and the washes of the jeans that a lot of these brands offer. I can tell just by looking at the color of the jean if it is a high end brand or not. And lastly, they seem to last longer than if I bought a random pair of no-names.
So don't be bitter that people spend more money for their things than you do. If you are comfortable with the things you have don't worry about other people. They do things for their own reasons too.

I've bought a few pairs of $200 jeans but I never paid the full price because I know how to shop. In actuality, there's not many differences from jeans that are cheaper. It's just the prestige, I guess, of walking in somewhere with a pair of Rock and Republics or True Religions. People see the pockets and know the brand and know you spent serious cash. It gives you a sense of class and an upscale aura. Pretty lame, I know. If it makes you feel any better, I wear $200 jeans with $30 Converse All-Stars. I'm not that full of myself.

I could see spending that much on a pair of jeans if you are wealthy and get a nice custom fit...but without a custome fit, there really isn't much of a difference. I think it just makes people feel better about themselves, going out in public with jeans that they know cost a lot of money.
I think that there's a difference between $10 jeans/khakis at K-Mart or Wal-Mart versus $40-60 jeans/khakis at Macy's or Bon-Ton, but the higher you go in price, the less of a difference there is. Take the exact same pants off of the $50 rack and put them on the $200 rack and I bet you that someone would still buy them because they cost $200.

It isn't necessarily that they are better, but I find that designers often do a little more research in the way their denim fits the body. I don't buy jeans that often, so I want to buy a pair that's going to last a long while. Also, It is difficult to find that perfect fit, and the only company that makes jeans to my liking puts a price tag above the $200 line (note: I don't buy that crap California denim, i.e. Seven FAM, etc.). If I wore jeans more often, and went through them quickly, I wouldn't bother spending more than fifty bucks.

I'll never know. If you got the azz, a pair of Levi's can do it justice. I'm told that I have a nice one, and I don't spend more than $30 on jeans. So $200 is 6 pairs of jeans and lunch for me.
Spare me your bull, I gotta see the converse all-stars. You're so smokin'.

The only reason people buy expensive clothes is for the brand name.
They want people to think, "OH WOW THEY SPENT ALOT OF MONEY. THEY MUST BE COOL. THEY LOOK HOT." Etc, etc.
On the other hand, there are other people that just have the money and buy whatever.
But for the most cases for me, I spend $15-40 for a pair of pants.
My most expensive pair was probably $50 and that was the first pair of pants I bought with my own money so I wanted it to be expensive.

Some people here are right. As for me, I don't buy expensive brand stuff, for number of reasons, first of all, have you seen the brand clothes? There are plenty of stuff, from brands, that look sooo ugly and have suuuch a cheap look that you wouldn't believe that this is branded. Second, when I see this stuff, I don't believe they worth that much money. And I would never buy this stuff for so much.
For me a simple looking polo shirt, is still just a polo shirt, even though it has a Lacoste logo embroidered on it. And I would never buy it for whatever the usual price of it is.
I of course would buy branded things if:
1)They would be my size and fit me.
2)They would be cute.
and
3)They would cost not too much.
The most of my branded clothes, I buy in a special overstock shops.

I have a couple pairs of Citizens, and they fit like a dream. They will last for a long time because they are well made and a classic look. Totally worth it.
