On my son's basketball team, a boy named Bob Jr. injured his forearm in Sept 2005. He supposedly had his left forearm broken, requiring him to wear a cast for the rest of 2005 (still can shoot with both hands). It's now 2007 & still the same cast!
In my opinion, he uses the cast illegally to give opponents a good shove - most of the time behind the backs of the referees. It seems he enjoys using this cast as a weapon. I mean he really lays the cast into the opposing players. In fact, he has rendered four players unconscious.
I can't imagine any cast that would need to stay on that long. However, his parents always have some medical terms why he needs it. Parents of opposing teams get upset and stated their anger but only to be calmed down by Bob Jr's parents state "He is an aggressive player under the boards & it is not his fault he has to wear a cast".
Everyone is pacified by his parents approval of the cast.
I'm 99% sure there is no reason he needs it but what can I do?

First thought in my head..... If he has medical problems that require him to wear a cast... why is he playing basketball? Shouldn't he be out until the cast is removed?
Secondly... have you attempted talking to the coach of the team? I mean, if all the parents are frustrated by this child & the family.. Why don't they threaten to pull all of their kids off the team? If the majority of the parents are unhappy with this child & his family allowing him to play & beat on other players with his cast.... it should have more sway than ONE set of parents calming down the parents' state.
By the way, what an original name for a kid.. Bob Jr. HA!
p.s. I agree with Dude above! I would even go so far as contacting the police and having the parents charged on behalf of the child's behavior & their tolerance of it. (UNLESS the child is over 18)

It's not uncommon for players of many sports to use their casts as a weapon, not saying its right, just that it happens. It is possible that he may have a condition that makes his bones weak and unable to heal. I doubt it's the exact same cast as from 2005, which means it's being removed and replaced by a doctor. Which also means it's being x-rayed and treated. A doctor would not replace a cast just for a basketball game. So there could be a legitimate reason he needs the cast. Next time, ask the parents what the term is again and look it up.
As for him using it as a weapon, I agree that it's wrong and he should not be allowed to do it.

Break his arm again so he has to legitimately use that cast. Honestly, we had a kid in our league that did the same thing. He was ruled ineligible because he posed a threat. Sounds like you need to petition and get the leagues coordinators to make a judgement. If 4 kids truly were put unconscious as a result than he should have been out of there long ago.

Send a official compliant to your state's basketball board for review, citing the incidents involing Bob Jr. I know if that kid did that to my boy, no amount of calming down would work on me. See if he wears the cast when he is not playing, if not then inform the coach ot officials that his arm is fine.

It's a sure bet that his arm will never heal properly if he keeps slamming people with it. You might slide that by his parents..."What a trooper littl' Bob is putting his arm at risk for the team!" Say it will all the sympathy and concern you can muster.
Take a couple of pictures of him doing it with your cell phone, and then pay a visit your local school board.

4 unconscuis kids???? that's highly unlikely. i think they'd run that on the news or something. but 2 years in a cast is also impossible. but if he is.
only 1 thing to do!!! call the court office and file a lawsuit.
either the doctor is in malpractice, the kid is doing battery, or the refs are letting physical harm be done without stopping.

Give your son 2 cast to were to a game , to prove your point that it looks foolish and it is a danger to the other kids , that are playing.

I think you have to stop allowing your kid to play basketball with "Cowboy" Bob Orton's kid..If the cast gimmick continues you may have to bring in the Macho Man's kid and settle the score.

He's knocked out 4 players? Personally, I find this whole story rather hard to believe.
