I am 12 turning 13 in June. I went to check my email and saw that someone sent me a message on youtube and it said i sent a message to myself. I clicked on the link and the message was entitled WARNING. It said I don't like the idea of you posting videos on youtube, I'll talk to you later, dad. The video was of me saying hi to my friend, and I didn't say where i lived, or my last name. My dad is overreacting, but what do I say when he comes home? What do you think he will do?

I don't mind letting my children post videos as long as I have acess to see what they're posting. I guess I just have great kids that I can trust. They really obedient and never get in any kind of trouble. Some parents are just to uptight about things.

Hi, if I was your dad, I would be very angry, I mean I am an 18 year old guy going to University at the end of this and I have never ever posted a pic or a video of myself on the net not even on hi5 or tagged.com. You see the world is getting much more dangerous than you think. You are about to turn 13 of age that's why you don't understand what is going on the other side of the world.
You should get an understanding why your DAD is over-reacting. If you had a son, would you get angry if he posted a video of himself on the internet? The thing is, you can post a pic or video on the internet, but the thing people can get you in big time trouble such as having your picture stuck to an illegal passport and commit a crime with just your pic, they can create the name. When you get in trouble, you're innocent, but who's gonna believe you. And another thing, if you have enemies, these days a whole gang attacks an individual person. People can hunt you down maybe for fun or something you made them upset about. And this could get you ending up in sever circumstances. Just don't do what other people do. Think before you act.
Just stay safe and play safe in this world and nothing will happen to you.

Regardless of what everyone else in here thinks, your dad is the boss. You have to live with him for 5 more years, so you're going to have to learn to pick your battles. It will make your teenage years a lot more bearable. When you demonstrate to him that you are responsible enough to have a priviledge, he will give it to you.
Anyway, I think the way he told you was pretty cool. He didn't even specifically ban you from doing it, just said he wanted to talk to you about it. My father would have smacked me around a bit and then banned me from using any computer at all.

You are young, and the Internet reaches everybody, child predators especially. Your dad wants to see you reach adulthood. You are not in trouble because he is mean or because he hates you, you are in trouble because he loves you.
If I were your dad I would watch you remove the video from you-tube. I would also have a talk with you about maintaining personal safety and using the telephone to say hi to your friends.

In 15 going onto 16 worse.. cuz im older.
ok i put a movie up of me play Dance Dance Revolution. And my mom found out.. and my mom is the most meanest person you will meet..
When she had come home all i had sed was i washaving fun and let me be a kidd...
And that i bet she did stupid stuff like i do wen she was kidd..

Dont worry about it.
You dad just wants to make sure that some perv does not download your videos.
Talk to him about these things. He's just thinking of your safety. Internet can be fun but there are serial killers, pedophiles and identity thief people out there.

I think you are right, he is over reacting. Maybe he will just give you a stern warning. In the worst case he will revoke your
computer privileges.

Depends what kind of video it is, as long as you weren't doing anything inappropriate, then it wouldn't bother me. But then I'm not your dad.
My little cousin whose 16 and his friends made some videos and posted them, his parents were cool with it.
