I'm doing research to find out which are some of the best cities in the NE for real estate investing. But I thought I'd come here for real accounts from people that live in these places. What do you consider to be a great city? I'm particularly interested in places that aren't too small, that are clean, low crime, good rental markets, etc...the usual. Thanks. Oh, and I live in NYC so I'm hoping to find good cities that are no more than 4 hours away on a train. :)

I would say the Hartford, CT area. If you're thinking of investing, the windham county area has very affordable mutli-families with decent rents.
