Many people take bad girls as girls that get low grades in school and are crazy, but I just read and article that said that bad girls are the ones that get good grades. So I don't know which one has the truth.

bad girls are those girls that you see in school...
all wear clothes from abercrombie and fitch, american eagle, hollister, aeropostal (not saying i dont wear those clothes cause i do....) and are total byotches to everyone
they get bad grades in school because they dont care....
and sleep with every guy they see...
they get drunk on a regular basis....
they pretend they're friends with a person in their clique and then the second one of their friends turns around they are spreading rumors and talking trash about them....
i'm sure if you're reading this you understand which girls im talking about....
in elementary school we called them the nasty girls....now they've graduated to bimbos/sluts! they THINK they are popular....but everyone really hates them
well i hope this clarified the true meaning of a bad girl for you....well at least this is what i think of when i hear "bad girl"

A bad girl? Depends on the context. . . . A bad girl can be somebody who gets into trouble constantly (yeah, boring answer), or they can be the slutty girl that sleeps around with anybody and everybody.
But, the bad girl is the girl that has the appearance of an angel, the manners of a saint, but the sexual drive and energy of a devil!
Bad girls are God's gift to men!

Bad is all about attitude more than anything else. Some of the most evil people in society today are geniuses - but that does not mean that there are no good people that are geniuses as well.
Traditionally "bad" means someone who goes against the rules that society has laid down. Society creates an image that the great unwashed masses want to see everyone mold to, and if you do not mold to that image, you are a rebel, or "bad".
In school, they can also label you as "bad" if you go against your parents, your teachers or school policy.
It does not mean that you yourself are necessarily evil, you just go against established authority or morals.

The phrase "bad girl" changes meaning with each generation. in the 50s and early 60s it refered to girls who dated a lot of different boys and "slept around". it had nothing to do with grades. with the 21st century education system I guess it depends on if you go to a public school or a private one. in public school, stupid and crazy equals popular.
