This is truly reflective of Richie Daley's democratic form of government. It shows the results of his patronage policies. It shows his double standard when it comes to crime and punishment.
If an ordinary citizen were to do what that slug did to that women, they would be in Stateville prison by now. If a citizen had come to that womans aide and broke a chair over that slime balls head, the Chicago cops would have arrested that citizen, beat the shiit out of him, and had him up on charges for beating up on a cop.
This is Richie Daley's idea of law enforcement. He's as bad as his father when it comes to controlling the Chicago Police Dept. Does anyone out there remember Orlando Wilson, the police commissioner of Chicago during the sixties, who only agreed to take the job if he didn't answer to the mayor, Richard the first?
The police department was so out of control and corrupt, under Richard J. Daley, that his political career was on the bubble. A committee was formed to find a new police commissionerI Wilson was on that committee and was quickly recognized as a man who had all the credentials the city needed in a police commissioner, and was offered the job.
Orlando Wilson agreed to take the job of police commissioner, but only on the condition that he would not answer to the mayor. The committee agreed to these terms, and Wilson took the job. Daley had no recoarse because his own job was on the line, so he deferred to the committee's decision.
In no time at all, Wilson had the Police Department humming.
He had these people doing their job according to the standards the community expected, and he saved Richard J's political @ss ! After a few years of good police standards, Daley showed his appreciation for Wilsons achievements by going to the city council and demanded his authority of the police department be reinstated. Naturally, the rubber stamp city council agreed to giving Daley back his complete authority.
A short time after Daley got back his police powers, Orlando Wilson resigned . The Chicago Police Department hasn't been the same, since. It just goes to show you, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree !

Just saw it myself, and it was scary.
The cop was apparently sued along with others in another beating some time ago.
I hope he gets time this time around.

Yeah. It is sad. But remember she is not the first woman to be beat by a man and not the last.
