Not really, thats nonsense, but look at this:
We take their last names
We take their driver license number (theirs stays the same, our first few letters turn into theirs).
Before marriage we are miss or ms and after we are mrs, they are always mr. We become Mr's.

My husband and I are very traditional in this sense. I love him having control, to a point...If a decision needs to be made...we do it together. He's the man...he makes the most money...I am currently in school f/t and work p/t...I make majority of meals..and do majority of cleaning. He does help me..and when he does, it always puts a HUGE smile on my face. He spoils me...with his love and affection (we make our friends sick)...and he gives me lots of gifts (some cost $$ some don't cost anything). He'll surprise me...for instance...w/ a picnic on the beach. So romantic. I am going along with the ride...loving every minute. I also do quirky things for him as well. And our life in the bedroom is the best we've ever had...we're very connected in all ways.

My Lion rules his domain...

Mr. and Mrs. went out long ago before the year 2000, women use their first name, not Mrs. Harry....... Also a lot of women keep their own last name especially in the corporate world or at least use a hyphen between their last name and hubby's. We don't have a driver's license number change when we marry, never heard of that????
Believe me the now a day woman isn't owned by anybody.

We take their last names: IF we CHOOSE to.

We take their driver license number (theirs stays the same, our first few letters turn into theirs). I've had the same driver's license number since I was 16.

Before marriage we are miss or ms and after we are mrs, they are always mr. We become Mr's. I have ALWAYS been MS...MS can mean either married or unmarried.

Maybe YOUR husband OWNS you...but that is a choice that YOU made.

Not really. There are all kinds of feminists out there that don't take their husbands last name, or hyphenate, and I even saw this morning on GMA that there are some men that are starting to take the wife's name!

If anything, I think there is major role-reversal going on today. There are many couples where the female makes the $ and the man takes care of the home & kids. At the very least, I'd say the vast majority of couples at least split home duties. You really have no choice with both holding down full time jobs. If one person is expected to "do it all", like sometimes women are because they are the stereotypical homemakers, they will eventually burn out. Work 40 hrs + a week, AND do everything at home I mean. Hence high divorce rate. Times they are a'changin....

actually that is our choice if we so choose it. i kept my name and always went by ms. when needed. maybe its different where you live but my drivers license number never changed. in this day and age thats an option open to you but you don't have to go it that way if you don't feel comfortable with it. even if you choose to take his name or go by mrs it should never be looked upon as ownership. thats such a sad and negative outlook to a start of a marriage.

NO they do not own us. So what about those stupid little things. You can opt not to take his last name if that bothers you therefore your driver license number won't change. Same for the Ms.

Uh, no...
I took my husband's surname by choice; he said if I wanted to keep my maiden name, then he would take that name - just so our future children only had one surname, ours, and we were one family.
We don't share any numbers - are in Saskatchewan, Canada. You keep your own dr. license no., car plates no., govn't. no (SIN), credit nos, bank acct. -- absolutely everything. You just change the name.
We were married in 1989. You really have some antiquated ideas and I think maybe you haven't grown into being your own woman yet!
You can stay Ms. if you choose, however, I don't like the sound of it. I'm proud to be Mrs.

Only if you allow them to. As for drivers license number - not in the US. Everyone has their own number married or not. I didn't take my husbands name. We agreed that for our children, our son would take his name and our daughter would take my name. It's a shame that only a male's lineage matters. Women have the power to change that. I did.

BUT my mom was not dumb and she did not raise no fool so in the back of my mind I will always remember he maybe the head of the house hold but I am the neck and the head does not turn without the neck!! Oh and always save money for a rainy day. If ever accused of snooping then politely say with a straight face and with no anger with the accusation but state you are not snooping you are simply collecting research.
