They never go to your second story, so you could build a house on a double garage. Or I have heard of people putting the gravestones on a little island in the middle of a large pond. Then the ghost will leave you alone as well

Ah. Well, if you have certain expansions (I think Nightlife and University have it and Pets definitely does) you could try keeping them in your inventory.until you need them.
And I've found that if you keep them farther away from the house, they're less likely to bother you.
