According to www.mugglenet.com:

" Scholastic announced today that the US edition of Deathly Hallows will contain 784 pages, making it the second longest book in the series behind OOTP!

Since the US versions of the books are published in a larger font and contain chapter pictures, this should mean the UK version will be around 700 pages long."

How do you all feel about this information? Does it make you want the book even more, or does it stave off your curiosities?

What is your opinons?

I dont think it's the length that matters so much as the quality of the writing (and editing!).

OOTP seemed overly long in my opinion, relative to the amount of actual plot advancement that went on. I could have done with less childhood romantic angst and more content advancing the overall story, but that's just my opinion as a mature reader (and I understand the series is targeted for a younger audience, so some exception need be made).

The fact that this is the final installment of the series and a great number of loose ends need to be tied up will hopefully lead to a more interesting read than OOTP and less fluff in those 784 pages. Hopefully.

And it also stands to be pointed out that this isnt necessarily the last time we'll get to read about these characters. True it's supposed to be Rowling's final installment, but that doesnt mean she wont eventually sell the right for other authors to write spinoffs and sub-series. It could happen.

Fine by me. I kind of like it when the books are long. I'm kind of wondering if that's enough though. I mean this is the LAST book! It's going to be exciting when it comes out but once everyone finishes reading the book it'll dawn on people that it's the last book and we won't ever read about Harry or any other character again.

I love Harry Potter. I don't really care how long the book is, just as long it's a good book! But I did hear that three characters are going to die in the book! And that This will be the final book!!!!

even better!! make it a nice savory ending to Harry Potter. I don't mind that it's really long. To all the people who only like short stories: JK Rowling could have very well made it only 100 pages but it might not be a satisfactory story. hopefully it will be really good!

I don't care if it's long. I just hope I can get it read before I hear spoilers about it. I work in a book store, so that won't be easy.

i like the longer books, it gives me a challenge. what i think is funny is how j.k keeps saying it won't be as long as the last one or as long as this one, but in the end it's either longer or pretty close to it.
