i am 371/2 weeks 3 cm dialated. i was dialated to 2cm 60 %affeced at my 35 week appt. i have tried walking, sex, rasberry tea nipple stimulation nothing has brought on contractions or labor. any ideas on how long i have or anything i can do to speed this up i am really ready.

I know how you feel! I was there once too! You need to walk! Not only could it help begin labor, but mild exercise helps with labor pains.
Just try and relax, and enjoy this time. Take bubble baths, get a pedicure, take a nap. Soon, you won't have the luxury of doing such things!

It doesn't really matter how ready you are unfortunately.... it's your baby that has to be ready!!! Dilation and effacement mean nothing until labour begins, and the average first time pregnancy lasts 41 weeks and 1 day. I hope everything goes well for you, try not to get too hung up on numbers, enjoy these last few weeks of pregnancy, sleep, rest, relax! You won't get much time to do any of these things when the baby arrives! You have weeks to go yet, nearly a month before that babe is fully cooked and ready to go. Enjoy it, you'll miss your bump when it's gone, I guarantee it!!!

The most respected Midwife of our Times, Sister Ina May Gaskin, would recommend arm-wrestling. She has many, many succesfull Births to her name. I am sure she is right. Try it out in between relaxing. But make sure as someone pointed out above that you got your date right. Too many Women are "early" these days, don't you think ? Perhaps it has to do with "iatrogenic prematurity". It means doctor-caused prematurity. Look it up in her book "Ina May's Guide to Chilbirth". That masterpiece of research and perspective is really all a Mother needs. How fortunate you are you can read it if you want.

Not a darn thing. I sat just like that from 36w and had to be induced at 41 weeks. Nothing worked, castor oil, red raspberry tea leaf, nipple stimulation, sex, walking, evening primrose oil. Your baby gives the go ahead to your body, not the other way around, you just have to wait im affraid.

unfortunately nothing will work. The baby comes when it comes. At 37 1/2 weeks, you are almost there, why push it? Your better off to wait until the baby wants to come:) I tried to get mine to go early, and the more I tried with each, the later I was. I even when over with 2!

It sounds like your mucus plug..mine had a sprint blood in it. i'm 37 weeks..and became 3 cm dilated some week and a 0.5 in the past and that i lost my mucus plug a week in the past right this moment. I certainly have had exceptionally much no contractions on account that I lost it nevertheless.

Had the same experince with my first child and i tried everything from long walks to hot curries to sage oil in a hot bath. nothing worked and at 40 weeks he turned himself round and got caught up in his cord and i had to have an emergency c_section. don't worry. your baby will come when the time is right, when he/she is ready. enjoy the peace while you can. and good luck hun, my heart is with you. It'll all be worth it.

try relaxing. the baby will come when its ready too. some people can walk around dialated for a few weeks.
