"If you are newly pregnant, you may be wondering when you will start to show. You may start to notice changes in your waistline early in your pregnancy, before anyone would even be able to tell that you were pregnant. You may feel like you are showing much sooner than you actually are. Your stomach may look a little bigger early in your pregnancy but to others you may just look like you have gained a few pounds. Every woman is different about this but most women start to show in their second trimester.
How early can you start showing?
Some women start to show very early in their pregnancies. If you have been pregnant before, your uterus and abdominal muscles may be more relaxed. Your pregnant belly may seem to “pop out” right away. At eight weeks your uterus is about the size of a tennis ball. It is normally the size of a lemon. This is not a remarkable change in size but it may cause your clothes to feel a little snugger. During early pregnancy, you may feel bloated, similar to how you feel right before your period starts. This bloated feeling, constipation, or weight gain may result in you feeling like you are showing sooner than you actually are. You probably won’t be needing maternity clothes until you are closer to the start of your second trimester. However, some women start wearing maternity as early as ten weeks into their pregnancies.
If I start showing early does this mean anything?
If you start showing early in your pregnancy, this doesn’t necessarily mean anything. If this is not your first baby you may start to show sooner than you did with your previous pregnancy. It is possible that you could be pregnant with twins, but it is more likely related to weak abdominal muscles or bloating in early pregnancy. If you are measuring bigger than where you should be measuring, your doctor may order an ultrasound to find out why.
I am not showing, is something wrong?
If you don’t start showing for a while, this is nothing to worry about. If you are very thin, you may still be wearing your blue jeans for a while. Some women do not start to show until they are well into their second trimester or even the start of their third trimester. If you are overweight at the start of your pregnancy, you may not gain as much weight during your pregnancy and may not begin to show until later into your pregnancy. "

Chill out!!! It's completely normal to not have a grown stomach. Anxiety comes with the territory but if you work yourself up you're just going to feel worse or even make yourself sick. I'm 11 weeks and a couple of days, 5'4" and am 120 lbs (54 kg) and I don't really show at all. My tummy pokes out but not much and a lot of people don't get that. Some people are bigger than I at this point. EVERYONEs pregnancies and bodies are different. As long as you eat healthy food w/ plenty of fruits, veggies, calcium and protein you'll be fine.

Don't worry. You're a smaller frame...as long as you're eating, everything will be fine. All of a sudden you'll just pop out. I popped a little around week 14/15....now at 22 1/2 I'm all of a sudden REAL pregnant looking. Don't worry

Don't worry at all! I'm 12 weeks myself and 5'4 and I'm really not showing yet. Many moms have told me it might be another month before I start to look at all pregnant, and I'm sure it'll be the same for you.
I'm sure your doctor will reassure you at your next visit.

Don't worry about it. Your baby is growing, but there is plenty of room inside of you. You probably won't start showing until you are about 5 months pregnant. Just keep going to your scheduled appointments. As long as the doctor isn't worried about it, you shouldn't be either.

Everybody is different, and the majority of the weight you gain doesnt' happen until you're past 28 weeks. If your doc isn't worried, then don't worry yourself. Stress can cause miscarriage so please stay positive. BTW one of the girls in my prenatal class didn't gain a single pound while she was pregnant and went on to have an 8lb baby. Her body was just efficient in burning up her reserves so where she was loosing weight, her baby was putting it on. Eat well, and stay active, drink plenty of water and take your prenatals. If you are doing all that, then don't worry at all.

Women start showing at different times. I didn't "pop!" until I was around 5 or 6 months along. So don't worry. You're not even out of the first trimester yet. You won't start showing till the middle or towards the end of the second trimester. Don't cry! Everything is fine! :o)

Alot of times smaller people don'tgain alot of weight. I would consult your doctor, and make sure you are doing everything that you possibly can to move up in weight. Don't get all huge or nothing! LOL Your only supposed to gain up to 25 punds with a baby, and still be healthy or able to loose it when your done.
