I'm just trying to record my classical repertoire to later burn in a CD and I am trying to choose between getting a digital console (which seems overkill) or downloading some software and verifying I have the minimum system requirements. Thanks!

OK, as above download AUDACITY, you can get it here:

Now on the hardware front, you really need to use a condendser mic - wwwaaaayyyy better than dynamic for acoustic guitar recording, but a condenser requires a power source - don't be downhearted, you can get a nice USB condenser (gets power from the USB port!) and you are sorted for a modest outlay (well the software is free so you are already ahead!)
take a look at these USB condensers:

Go to sourceforge.net and download Audacity. It's free and good. Free and good? Yup, free and good. It's good. And free.

Then plug a mic into your pc and crank out the Ponce.'

I have drank wayyyyy too much Redbull! Sorry!!!

If you're near by a computer, you could plug in a decent microphone into it, and record it that way (assuming you have a good soundcard.) But, if you're not near one, I'd use a portable recording device like this one.
