I have always heard that the week before your period you should expect slight weight gain because of water retention. however, I have been dieting for a few weeks now and have realized that since I have been on my period, I have been gainng weight. I was still losing the week before, but now that I"m on it, I've gained around 2 pounds. I know that 2 lbs. is nothing to worry about, but as you know, when you're dieting every pound counts. Is it normal to retain water/gain weight during your period, or is something else causing the weight gain?

It is normal to have water retention before, during and about any other time of the month for any number of reasons. Try increasing your water intake.
