The number 666 comes directly from the worship practices of the city of Babylon about the time of the Bible prophet Daniel. The people of Babylon worshiped gods that were associated with the sun, moon, visible planets of our solar system, and certain of the stars involved with the practice of astrology. The Babylonians were the principle developers of astrology, as we know it today. In their worship system, they had 37 supreme gods, and one of these, the god associated with the sun, was supreme over all the other gods. These people believed that numbers in some way had power over the gods they worshiped. However, they had to create numbers that they could assign to the gods so that they could have power over them. To do this, they counted their gods and assigned a count number to each of the 36 lesser supreme gods, and then added up all of these numbers (from one to 36) and assigned the sum to the sun god. The first god they counted got the number one assigned to it, and the second god they counted got the number two assigned to it, and so on up to all 36 lesser supreme gods. Now, if you have not guessed it by now, the sum of the numbers from one to 36 totals 666, which they assigned to the god associated with the sun.

It´s a christian demonization of the Khaballistic or hebrew doctrine, 6 is a number connected to Tipheret in the tree of life, simbolizes Beauty, when we triple it 666 it´s kinda like we are extending it to three different realms, Father Son and The Holy Ghost. (Very briefly, not a complete account) So it is therefore a number that represents perfection in all senses, The Perfect Man.

When John wrote about Armageddon in the middle centuries (this was a different John than the one who wrote the fourth gospel) this number was part of his tale. It really did not refer to the Devil but to Emperor Nero but was later translated to mean the devil. Why no mention of Nero rather than use numbers? It was politically unsafe to refer to the Emperor in a negative way. Usually death by Crucifixion.

its supposed to be a mockery of the holy trinity you know like 3 p.m. is the accepted time that Jesus died so 3 a.m. is accepted as the most evil time of the day. so the God 3 Jesus 3 and the Holy Spirit 3 and the accepted opposite of 3 is 6 so 666

Read the Revelation of St. John the Divine (Revelations). No one is really sure what John is talking about in this book. He makes very vague prophecies usually having a very negative outcome. I think he was just pissed off at Rome for exiling him to Patmos and so he writes about their doom. The number 666 has been interpreted to mean a lot of things but really no one is sure what this delusional man was talking about.
