The toilet floods when I flush it. I have used a plunger and it does not help. The toilet water will overflow if I plunge it again. How do I get the water to go down?

There is a blockage somewhere. Hopefully it will be someone used a bunch of toilet paper and it will clear itself shortly. It sounds like you're about ready to pull the toilet from the floor and use a snake to clear the drain. Before you do this stop by a hardware store and buy a new wax ring. Clean the old one off completely.

If the drain is clear after pulling the toilet then there is a blockage in the toilet itself, with it pulled it will be easier to find the problem. Good luck.

Get a closet auger (toilet snake). It is a snake with a long handle with a J bend on the end it is rubber coated so you don't damage the toilet. If you have plunged and didn't work whatever is clogging the toilet has been forced into a tight mass. The idea of plunging is not to force things down, use the plunger as suction a pull and loosen whatever is in there.
Sometimes you have to remove the toilet but as a last resort. This is when you kid puts a toy or something plastic down the toilet.

START SCOOPING WITH A BOWL UNTIL U CAN FIGURE OUT THE CLOG. DID SOMEONE PLUG IT UP WITH A BIG SEWER PICKLE AND LOTS OF TOILET PAPER OR DID SOMETHING ELSE FALL IN THERE? WITH TIME IT SHOULD SLOWLY DRAIN SO YOU ARE ABLE TO PLUNGE IT AGAIN.
IF NOT YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO PULL THE TOILET AND SEE WHATS GOING ON UNDERNEATH. MAKE SURE YOU **** THE WATER OFF BEHIND THE TOILET FIRST! IT'S NOT A BAD IDEA TO REPLACE THE WAX RING EITHER LONG AS YOU HAVE THE TOILET OFF. GET A NUMBER # 2 WAX RING WITH A COLLAR. ITS UNDER 3 DOLLARS...GOOD LUCK

If it is doing what i think it is, lift the top part of, and shake the handle until u see the plug fall down. Or, if the chain attached to the plug+handle is off one, then you need to reach in and fix it. It hapopened to my toilet once.
