That's funny if you think he is better than Peterson.Peterson is 3rd all time leading rusher at OU,was a runner up for Heisman in his freshman year.Plus, at the combines Peterson has been trying to improve his catching ability.Peterson to me is probably going to be the best running back in maybe 3 to 5 years.

I think long term, Lynch will be better than Peterson. Peterson has a tendency towards injury. If he thinks guys in the Big 12 hit hard wait til he ends up in the NFL. If he gets picked up by the Browns, he will be behind a suspect line and be playing, the Ravens, Steelers, and Bengals two times a year. All three of these teams have good defenses and will stand Peterson up at the line.
Lynch on the other hand, prospered on a team which was focused on passing and has great speed and hands. He has been reasonably injury free and is big enough to take some hits. He may not put up the same numbers as Peterson in the short term but he will be a better all around player and will have the longevity to have a better overall career.

Honestly, I think they are going to be about equally good NFL backs. Very different running styles though. Peterson is a talented power back. Very much like a faster Deuce McAllister.
Lynch plays with good power too, and he tries harder for extra yards after tackle than anyone I've ever seen. I was surprised that Lynch's 40 time wasn't faster because I'm told he was running significantly faster than that in practice runs. He is also probably a better receiver than Peterson. Both backs have a lot of work to do on pass protection. Peterson tends to give up on blocks, and Lynch sometimes gets overwhelmed by larger rushers.
Overall, Lynch is comparable to a young LaDanian Tomlinson, though maybe a little less explosive. Lynch does have LT's excellent stiff arm, elusiveness, and receiving skills though. Lynch is unusually good at getting rid of tacklers with his free arm.
Peterson still probably has the edge on Lynch at breaking tackles though due to his larger size. He may also be slightly faster than Lynch, as his 40 time would indicate, though I'm not totally sure who has the quicker first step (SO important for RBs).
Both backs seem to have good field vision and ability to find the holes quickly, though I do notice that Peterson seems to get tackled for a loss probably a little more often than Lynch, so Peterson may need a little coaching about that to get ready for the NFL.
Overall, I think both backs will go in the first 15 picks, probably in the first 10.

Well, a lot of people will say that Peterson is better only because they've seen him play. Marshawn and Cal didn't get as much National T.V. time as Peterson and the Sooners.
I think if Peterson stays healthy, he will be the better of the two at the pro level. He has the size to be used like a Reggie Bush.

No way in hell man... Peterson ran for 1,000 yards in his sophomore year and missed like 4 games, ran for over 1,000 yards his junior year and missed 7 games... No way Lynch is better, I am tellin you if he had a better O-line at OU his past two years and wasnt relied on like he was his Sophomore year he would be THE number 1 pick no doubt... Lynch is a Reggie Bush minus the speed and agility... Don't get me wrong Lynch is good and I think will be used like a Faulk or Bush in the NFL but Peterson will be a guy who carries the load as starting running back...

Lynch is more versatile because he's a better receiver out the backfield than Peterson, but Peterson is the better overall back. He can get 1500 yards easily as a teams workhorse this coming season.

both are dynamic backs with enormous potential. I think Peterson has the explosiveness that Lynch lacks. On the other hand, Lynch was a part of an offense at Cal that didn't really showcase everything he was capable of...

If Peterson can stay healthy with his upright style of running, he will be much better than lynch

I do not think so, but we will find out. Peterson is rated higher for a reason, he's a big back with exceptional speed. The type of back every team wants.
