The movie crash...i believe that their are no "heros" in the movie. One of the main ideas behind the movie is how nobody is without some sort of flaw or "blood on their hands" and that everybody has good qualities about them. Example Matt Dillon's character Officer Ryan is pretty much a perv (and the first half of the movie makes you hate him) while you love his partner Officer Hansen (Ryan Phillippe), then it becomes harder to call each one a good or bad guy in the second half of the movie when Officer Ryan saves Christine Thayer (played by Thandie Newton) and Officer Hansen kills a boy he picked up hitchhiking (Peter Waters played by Larenz Tate)

One of the most interesting parts of this movie is that all the major characters have aspects of good and evil, i.e. hero and anti-hero, about them.

So, either they are all heros (at some point), or none of them are (at other points), depending on your definition.

Does a hero need to be heroic 100% of the time? What if they aren't?

I think that everyone who overcame their personal demons (racism) is a hero. The film showed all characters were racist, in some degree. And racism does not care what colour you are. I believe they were all heros, those that came through with some sort of realization.

In my opinion the heros in the movie were those who were not racists.
