They can usually be screwed in. Sometimes they're metal, sometimes they're made out of wood. Sometimes they're round, sometimes they're shaped like a pine cone. Are they called bedknobs? I need the exact word for them. Please, serious answers only. Thanks!

I believe the general consensus is either Bedknobs or Finials (though when I think of finials, I think finials on a curtain rod) You could probably get away with either, although bedknobs actually describes where the "finials" go, and would therefore be more accurate.

A lot of people here know what their talking about. The round balls are called Finials, or turnings.

they usually are called finials, the same as on a bedroom lamp shade, the thing that screws down on top of the shade, size is irellevant, they both do the same thing, in the case for the bed post, there is an attachment for use in the summer to hang mosquito netting over the bed when needed.
