54% completion percentage 6 TD 6 INT, winless as a starter. Are those good numbers? Is that $48 million worth of performance? Not even close. They were better off with Carr, or they could have gotten a guy in the 2nd round and started him at QB. Doesnt matter who's the signal caller if the line still sucks. Once again, Houston has found a way to screw itself (should we bring up Mario Williams and his two sacks? as opposed to Reggie Bush's 1500 combined rushing/receiving yards and Vince Young's Rookie of the Year campaign?)

The same thing was said about Tom Brady when he was a "bencher".
So, until we see how he (Schaub) plays AS A STARTER, stop judging so harshly.
David Carr has had 4 years and has proven he is NOT the guy.
I have watched every game either in person or on TV. This guy (Carr) cannot read a defense. If it weren't true don't you think there would be teams, at this very second, knocking down doors to get him ? The NFL has seen what people in football know, that D.Carr is not a starter.
Now, for those who wanna blame the O-Line, yes for the first 2-3 years the O-line was bad but last year they gave up 20 fewer sacks. hmmm ANY NFL QB would be very happy to have that fewer sacks.
It has been estimated that last year, 1/3 of Carr's sacks came from.......... DAVID CARR.
He will not and cannot grasp the idea of checking down to the 2nd or 3rd receiver.
So stop blaming EVERYTHING on the O-line.
Houston was dealt some horrible coaching decisions from the last coach and GM.
One of the biggest mistakes was NOT taking Bush or Young last year.
So in closing, Let's give Schaub a chance because obviously Carr isn't the guy.
If NFL coaches thought Matt Schaub was so bad, those same coaches wouldn't have been trying to get him like so many were.
Good Luck Matt,
See ya David.....

Schaub set a lot of records at Virginia when he was there. He was looked upon as a long term project in the NFL. He has done a great job when asked to come in and close games for Michael Vick. The things people do not talk about when they are looking at Schaub is he is asked to not lose the game when replacing Vick. They ran the ball most of the time. Or the other situation is they are way behind and he is out there slinging it to try to catch up.
Unheralded backup QB's who made good as starters? Matt Hasselbeck, Jake Delhomme, Marc Bulger, Tom Brady, and not to mention the other Atlanta backup QB who was traded away, Brett Favre. Favre when he was at Atlanta played in two games throwing 5 passes with 0 (yes that is zero) completions, sacked once, and threw two interceptions. That is a QB rating of 0.0.
I wouldn't bet the farm on it, but I think Schaub could do well in Houston.

thats a good question
the people that have seen him in practice say he is good
but he hasn't proven anything at all
definately is not a proven QB, so I don't think the texans should have made such a long term contract with him
I hope he does well, but Man if he sucks (not better than carr) then again the texans look like idiots
(esspecially since they just re-signed Carr last year WTF?)
I think that this was just an unnessesary move
obviously there problems weren't at really at QB but they were kindof everywhere else
maybe they are trying to win some fans back

He has done nothing to be considered great. However, when he comes in he plays well, composed and does a pretty good job. When a QB comes out of college he gets a lot of money and they are a bigger gamble. He has proven to be a good back up at the pro level. Probably the best young backup in the game. So why shouldn't he get the same money that the top two QB's coming out of college are going to get.

The problem with backup QBs is that everyone loves them. They never get a chance to screw up so it is easy to overrate them. Schaub has looked good in preseason but odds are he will not be much better than David Carr, at least for this year. Although Tony Romo looked good in preseason last year and he turned out better than I thought.

Well better then Vick. More Potential then Proof though, I will admit that. I'm not sure I would say he is better then Carr. Thing is the Texans needed a new QB and needed to move from Carr, that is just going to be part of moving forward. Problem is if they don't get an O-Line out there then they will have the same problem.

schaub is 0-2 as a starter in three years with a little over 1,000 yards to his name. He has 6 career tds and 6 ints also. So, he's really not that good by NFL standards, but he is in the NFL.

matt schaub has proved 2 b quite useful.....as a backup and in college. He's done fairly well when he played, not great but not horrilble. but tony romo, rex grossman, and a lot of other disapointments have looked good the first couple times too so i'm not so sure about him

NO
6 YEARS/48 MILLION
for a guy who has hasnt even throw 10 tds in his career
he isnt proven and this is a rip off
he has a horrible OL and david carr was better, schaub is probably a slower version of david carr with the texans OL
