It is and it isnt...In the first trimester usually they tell u not to..this is the most crucial time for your babys development and u wanna make sure u are giving your baby the best start possible..The fumes in the hair dye are not good for you or your baby *especially in the first trimester* if u are in the first i would wait until after 12 weeks. When u do dye your hair make sure if u are using a box color to stay in a well ventilated area like the living room, very large bathroom, dining room etc.

Use a fan on you at all times also which will help with the harsh fumes..I dye my hair during this pregnancy *after the 12 week mark* without inhaling most of the fumes*i also use herbal essence which doesnt have the harsh chemicals as other hair dyes and it doesnt smell bad*if u are using a salon make sure u let them know u are pregnant and ask to use a hairdye with not many chemicals..Hair salons have a lot of fumes and bad checmicals floating around in there *i would use the box instead*...Good Luck!

my dr said as long as its after your first trimester becuase the first trimester all their organs are starting to develop. also to make sure you are in a well ventilated area and that you wear gloves...if you do it. one of the ladies at our stores salon said its perfectly fine that they dye prego hair all the time and that people that work in the salon have dyed other peoples hair while they were pregnant and nothing bad happened. there isnt really any solid proof that its massively harmful, becuase if there was....they would have a warning label on the hair dye bottles....and i checked, they dont lol

Not much is known about the safety of hair dyes in pregnancy. It is likely that when you apply hair dye, a very small amount is absorbed into your body. But it isn't clear how much, if any, of these chemicals may reach the fetus.

Talk to your obstetrician about any hair color treatments you may be planning. He or she may advise you to postpone any chemical processes involving your hair until at least after your first trimester.

To minimize the amount of hair dye that may be absorbed through your skin, the Food and Drug Administration offers these recommendations:

Don't leave dye on your hair any longer than needed.
Rinse your scalp thoroughly with water after use of hair dye.
Wear gloves when applying hair dye.

Yes it is ok to dye your hair while you are pregnant. It wont hurt the baby. But with your hormones changing you never know how your hair will react to it.

My midwife said that it is almost safe to dye your hair. But, usually not in the first trimester. here a website that make you better understand.

i recently read that now they make hairdye without ammonia so it is completely safe to dye your hair while you are pregnant as long as you are in a well ventilated area. i had my hair dyed when i was pregnant with my first child and he is fine. and my friend has dyed her hair while pregnant with all four of her kids and they are fine. so go ahead.

If your worried, just do the highlight or lowlight thing where they put that plastic cap with holes on your head - the dye won't even touch your scalp.

I believe it's safer to wait until the second trimester.

There really is no known risk but alot of doctors dont recommend it. And you really shouldnt do it if it contains ammonia.
