I think they can change, but it depends on what kind of help they get. If it has anything to do with sexual offenses though, I tend to think those are harder to walk away from innocently.

people don't change so if convicted of something there will be repeated patterns behaviours such as a convicted man with assault and battery to wife and children. The person swears never to repeat and give another chance then the day comes ,even if remisssion for 5 years, where all hell breaks loose. (tommy lee,for ex),An alcoholic or drug addict can never go back to using if ever gets clean. Others of more serious crimes don't get a chance to ever change because they are behind bars and the key is thrown away.There is a slight possibility of a miracle happening to someones life but is not the person who changed themselves but a higher creator that made the change in them and the change is so obvious to all that is also an abstract of night and day thinking.But this person is also at risk for a relapse just as the rest as nothing is ever carved in stone so if in doubt the saying is leave it out.Don't trust the person..
