No, when I lost a few members of my family we asked funeral goers to wear bright cheerful colors. We wanted to celebrate their lives not mourn their deaths...

As far as funerals go the "black tie, black clothes, black everything" is not really considered the "norm" anymore. I've had to attend more funerals than i would like but have come to find out that it's no longer the custom. The family members seem to dress more in the black than anyone. However, you dont want to show up in bright clothes either unless its a celebration of life ceremony. My husband i recently went to a service and he wore tan slacks and a nice button up shirt, no tie. I think it's cosidered appropriate to just dress nicely and clean cut.

Either black or a navy blue tie. Bright colors are not appropriate for a funeral unless that is the theme of the funeral. And yes, I have been to funerals that have themes.

No but it is a sad moment in life so don't wear a goofy tie. I wore a pink dress to my Papaw's funeral and I was thinking why was everyone wearing black?

you do not have to wear a tux. but a nice suit with a tie would be appropriate. it should be black with black shoes. bring flowers out of respect to the family.

No, but don't wear anything outrageous either. Any dark color or something neutral like white or tan is fine. No pastels!

no.

but do ask what is requested. always respect the wishes of the family.

since sometimes the dead guy wanted something special.. like for their friends to come in certain colors or as i've seen.. costumes... naked... all purple.. things like that, i went to one that was a tiki party, you had to come in flip flops and Hawaiian shirts... you never know.

so do ask... there may be a special thing happening.. but as usual black or dark colors.

PERSONALLY , I FEEL THAT THE FORMAL APPROACH MAKES THINGS JUST A LITTLE MORE DEPRESSING... AS LONG AS YOU LOOK LIKE YOU GOT IT TOGETHER IN DECENT ATTIRE YOU SHOULD BE FINE... AS FAR AS THE TIE IS CONCERNED......" LOOSE IT" SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR LOSS
