Does anyone know the psychological reason(s) that middle school children start to cuss?

I was wondering if anyone knows the psychological reason(s) that kids start to cuss in middle school? It would be helpful if you could support your answer with a source or if you know so from personal experiences.

Not all middle school students start to cuss. Check out the family background. Why do we think its ok for so called "adults" to cuss, but not for children?

If the child grew up in a household where their parents and elders cussed, then in middle school they would see that as a sign of "growing up" and want to do the same thing.

If the child learned that cussing is a vile, uncivilized way of expressing ones emotions, then the child will not start cussing.

Children do what they see modeled to them. If a child has a problem in middle school, check out the parents.

Middle school kids cuss because one they feel like it and two because of peer pressure other than that they cuss because they have a bad environment at home

not everyone, but middle school is stressful!! and it's when children are off the wall.....and once they start it becomes a habbit and if they are not corrected it is just another word in the english language.

They think it makes them seem older, more world wise, and because their peers do it. It is also a rebellious thing that all teenagers go through.

middle school has its own society and culture. you begin to enter a new society with its own lore and traditions. when you want to get accepted into that society, you need to learn its language.

peer pressure to be "cool" and unfortunately peer pressure often does not end after middle school :)

They want to be cool like the older people so they copy them.

they hear friends and parents saying it so they think its cool
