Despite what all of the naysayers here are saying, Detroit has a good offense and a horrible defense. If they draft defense and get a couple of players who can make an immediate impact, they could make the playoffs. If they draft offense, they will have problems again. I agree with the other answer about their division. Green Bay and Minnesota will be subpar again this season and the Bears are struggling to keep their team together. Depending on how the Bears do could be the key to Detroits chances. A 9-7 season could get it done.

Are you nuts? The Lions organization is messed up from the 4th string scout team all the way to top management (the owner, Ford himself). Living in Detroit my entire life there's only one thing to bet on every Sunday...How will the Lions blow this one. Not whether they will win or lose but how they will lose.
They are the worst franchise in the history of sports and they aren't doing anything to improve themselves. In the last 4 years we've drafted 3 WR and who did we sign in the off-season? MORE WR's!! And not good ones at that! The best move they made so far was picking up Bell, and all we had to part with was Bly who was leaving anyway. But even Bell won't be able to run through the swiss cheese that is the Lions OL. And if we try to pass? Well they should just put folding chairs out there in place of the OL...that way the DL has something to jump over before they slaughter the QB, who will most likely be Quinn after April.
This franchise is a joke. They never have a shot at playoffs. In fact, I'd be willing to bet they'll be mathematically eliminated after Week 1.

In today's NFL just about any team can make a playoff run. The Lions would probably still be a longshot. They got a lot of holes.

NO!!! They are in the same division as Green Bay. That instantly gives them 2 losses and no chance at the NFC North title. Knowing Detriot, they don't have any shot of getting a wild card or anything.

Not unless they have the first 10 picks of the draft and sign 5 high priced free agents (no WRs) then no. They are about has bad as my Browns.

No, the lions will not make a playoff run until they have a new GM/Owner.

They need a decent quarterback first. Kitna has the experience but he falls apart in big game situations. If they pick up Brady Quinn in the draft they could make a serious run in three or four years...

i believe that division is up for grabs--green bay, the bears, ect--it's not a very strong division and the most vetern coach is Lovie Smith who will be in his 4th year. No good quarterbacks other then Brett Favre who's getting old. I think anybody can make a run as long as they make the right trades and get the right draft picks.

the raiders have a better chance than the lions.
Detriot is in a shitty division and suck.. Everyone thinks the raiders suck but look who's in their divisions, the 3 other teams in their division are really rreally good that's why they lose a lot.
