If you took off the half of the question that reads at the top of the food chain my answer would have been the cat chased by the dogs. have a 4 year old annoying me so can't answer the question as it reads now. Brain gone into cramps

It's not really a chain, it's more of a web so no animal or species is really at the top. Not even humans. When we die and are buried, we decompose and become worm-food.
