The first trimester for most women is the roughest with respect to appetite and morning sickness issues (although 2 of my girlfriends pretty much had all day sickness for 9 months...BLECH!) It has everything to do with the increase in estrogen when you are first pregnant. I had the same experience with NO appetite during the first trimester and I was fortunate that I only had a few days of tender belly (i.e. the SMELL of food made me gag!)
For most women, this is completely temporary and usually goes away once you enter the second trimester. Myself, my appetite came back right around the holidays (oh goodie!) so I was able to scarf on everything yummy! Of course, I always told myself that the peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies were full of much needed protein and the ice cream and whipped topping were necessary calcium for the baby! LOL
And as one poster already said, crackers by the bed, in your purse etc. are always handy. And you can always try several small snacks during the day rather than trying to eat three regular meals. I found that especially helpful at the end of my pregnancy when I was famished but couldn't eat a full meal because JR. was pushed up against my stomach. Several small healthy snacks throughout the day made all the difference.
Congratulations and good luck!

Don't start worrying about your weight unless your doctor brings it up with you. I'm 30 weeks and have gained about 20 pounds so far. Some women gain even less and have healthy 7 lb. babies. Just make sure you're taking your vitamins and eating healthy. It's not true that you have to eat for 2; doctors say you only need an extra 300 calories a day, which isn't really a lot. I do try to munch on fruit and drink plenty of water daily, though. For breakfast I have a glass of milk on top of a very tiny bowl of cereal, which is an improvment since I never ate breakfast before. You're still early in your pregnancy and your appetite will start to increase bit by bit. Take care and good luck! I wish you the best!

I was never hungry when I was pregnant. I just ate because I knew I had to. I gained 35 lbs. through the pregnancy and my baby was born at a healthy weight. I know some people who ate everything in sight and gained a lot of weight through pregnancy. One of my friends lost it all (after 2 years and some serious diet and exercise), but another is still trying to lose it. She's had 2 kids and she's like 40 lbs. over what she used to be. I have about 5 more lbs. to go. I'm glad that I didnt get hungry a lot because I didnt have to lose tons of weight.

This is pretty common. Don't worry, your body will rebound. Right now it is just getting used to being pregnant. Your system will regulate itself out in your second trimester and you'll feel better. I fainted while I was pregnant and they told me to keep crackers by my bed and eat one before I got up.
