Is it true that sometimes the doctor has to stick his/her whole hand inside you at some point?

Why do they do that?

I've birthed 7 children and only had that happen ONCE. If you have a good doctor, no they do not "need" to stick their whole hand in. The doctors that do are the impatient ones who have pulled your placenta out before it was detached and caused it to break into pieces leaving some inside of you. That is what they are then going in to pull out. It is NOT healthy for the woman!!

Even during labor and birth, they still only need to insert 2 fingers to check on your dilation...even that is not really truly necessary. A woman will KNOW when it is time to push her baby out. Plus, once you're fully dilated, the baby's head is usually so far down the doc couldn't get their whole hand in if they tried.

Fortunately for me, with the one the doc did do that, I had gotten an epidural so I wasn't even aware of it happening at all. My husband is the one who told me about it later and then I saw the video he'd made and I was sick to my stomach. Needless to say, I did NOT return to that doctor for any of the others.

They use 2 fingers while you are pregnant to check and see if you ae dialating. It is pretty much the same as when you get a pelvic exam with a pap smear. During labor they might stick a hand in there if it fit, but usually it's just a couple fingers. It might feel like the whole arm at some points but it never bothered me. I was just glad things were progressing and that was the last thing on my mind.

Unless you are in active labor if your doctor sticks his entire hand inside of you, you should report him. Even in labor 99% of the time the doctor will not stick his hand inside of you. If any one tell you that it happened to them more than likely they think you are stupid.

They do that during labor. They stick their pointer and middle finger up you and spread them like if they were making the "peace" sign to see how many cm dialted you are. I never had a doctor stick their whole hand up me.

They do check you during pregnancy using one to two fingers. Its not like the whole hand is up there. During labor, perhaps while delivering the baby. Especially when turning the baby. Best of luck.

While you're pregnant? Never happened, and will never happen. During after labor, maybe to get the pecenta out. The baby stretches you out anyway.

They only do that when the baby is coming out but you dont feel too much because everything is dilated for the baby. Until then they will use just two fingers to feel your cervix.

lol!! NO!! I have had 4 children and NEVER! lol!! They check to see if you are dialated, that is just a gloved FINGER!! When the baby is crowning (head is coming out) they made help stretch your skin to prevent tearing....but that is just with a finger too!

don't let people start you:)
