i'm in middle school right now in the 7th grade, but i'm turning 13 this summer..i'm in the "smart group" and i have a 4.0, but my brother and my youth pastor don't want me to go to the 8th grade at my school next year because of a certain teacher who has some perverted issues..(we tried to get him fired, but the school board won't fire him).

I'm in algebra I right now, and if I skip to 9th grade, i'll have to do geometry then, but i'll still be an year ahead..i'm doing well in algebra right now too...
and Earth Science, and my science teacher is one of the toughest, and he says i have the highest test scores he's ever seen.

I'm also in orchestra, so i want to go to a school with a good orchestra, and not a crappy one, and i already have 2 high school choices if I skip 8th grade..

should i skip the 8th grade or not?
and i look like i'm 14 or 15 years old...

In my opinion, it's an issue of academics versus the social element. If you skip a grade, there will be many adjustments you will have to make and it may take awhile to get used to a new enviroment if you switch schools. On the other hand, if you're not challenged in school, maybe it's best to consider advanced courses. Sounds like you should talk to a guidance counselor and your parents about it to make the best decision for your education. Maybe you could take some advanced courses in high school (and maybe you could avoid that teacher that way!) and then take others at your regular school.

Hope you come to the right decision and can avoid that teacher.

Whether or not you physically look 14 or 15 is NOT a valid reason to "skip" 8th grade. A valid reason to "skip" 8th grade would be that you're not being challenged enough academically and you're prepared to handle the emotional pressures of being with older teens "day in and day out" and the peer pressuure that's sure to come if it becomes known that you're a "wunderkind".
A "crappy" orchestra is a good reason ONLY if you're thinking of becoming a professional musician.
And those "perverted" issues can only get a teacher fired if he attempts to force himself on a minor or promote those issues as part of his teaching.

No. In the end it won't matter if you skipped a grade...I skipped and it did not significantly help me or hurt me...I do feel though, that at the age you are (a teenager) it is more important that you stay with your peer group and develop socially etc. There is no rush to compete academically or in your music...trust me, if you are good at what you do , there will always be a demand for your talents. Furthermore, just because you may be a "smarty pants " now doesn't mean you'll continue to be... There will always be someone smarter, prettier or better than you........

Just relax.

You would have to test out which is very hard to do since in rare cases will students be allowed to graduate early or skip grades. Sounds like this teacher's tenored meaning it makes it harder to fire him unless you have extenuating circumstances they need to investigate before taking action to get rid of a teacher. If this teacher's conduct is in question how come your parents havent rallied any other parents who feel the same way and demand the school to take action.

Your youth pastor needs to kind of stay out of this because anything surrounding your education is between you and your parents.

What are these perverted issues anyway?I wouldn't pay much mind to it.As long as you're the type of person that makes friends pretty easily,or if you don't care either way,I'd say to skip a grade.I wouldn't hold myself back if I had an opportunity to be challenged. It sound like you're smart enough to make the right choice for yourself.

If you and your parents feel that you are ready socially and academically. I feel that in this world you need everything that you can to get ahead. Skipping a grade will definitely put you ahead of the curve so I say go for it Ms. Presidential candidate 2028.

Skip! Your to good! You have to skip to a grade with higher standards so they'll be equal to your standards. But there's also the chance that you'll miss important information that you were suppose to learn in the 8th grade.

Can't you just request a different teacher? If you can get a different teacher you shouldn't have a problem. Skipping an entire grade because of one teacher seems a little drastic.
