THIS IS A TOUCH AND GO GET 'EM ANSWER FOR YOU...
IT ALL DEPENDS THE AGE OF THIS PERSON AND WHY OR WHAT TRIGGERS HIS OR HER SENSITIVITY...... BUT FOR STARTERS YOU CAN TRY THE IT'S ALL ABOUT ME APPROACH...... WHAT I MEAN IS WHATEVER AREA OF HYGIENE THIS PERSON HAS PROBLEMS KEEPING UP WITH "MAKE IT YOUR OWN" ACT AS IF YOU HAVE THAT PROBLEM, NEVER ONCE MENTIONING THAT YOU NOTICE THIS IN HIM OR HER. THIS WAY YOU THROW THE SUBJECT ON THE TABLE AND AT THE SAME TIME GET A RESPONSE FROM YOUR FRIEND WHICH LEADS YOU TO THE FRONT DOOR OF YOUR DILEMMA....TAKE IT FROM THERE AND GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!

Unfortunately you can't tell her without upsetting her. If you feel as if you two are very close friends then you could say something along the lines of....." You know I've noticed you're not taking care of yourself, is there something going on?" Then it kind of opens the doors for conversation.

You could also give her a gift basket with some smell goods and hygiene supplies. I've done that one before.

Oooh, that's a tough one. I wouldn't resort to verbal confrontation, especially if she's sensitive. I guess it depends on what you mean by "bad hygiene." There are ways to hint and bring up the subject without offending her. I would start with a day of pampering to introduce her to new ways of maintaining good hygiene and call it "makeover day" for the both of you so she doesn't feel singled out.

Ask questions rather than being confrontational. Ask- What deodorant/toothpaste/etc. do you use? Have you tried anything else? Do you use your own or somebody else's? How often do the people at your house take a shower/bath? Then say things like- At my house we shower/bathe every day. We each have our own deodorant/shampoo/etc.

....um..just like casually tell her, oh..you have bad hygiene...let's have a make over or something. If you say it casually, then maybe it won't hurt as much. If she goes into tears just tell her you were joking or something.
