Which asset classes can you pick up the most Alpha with active focused portfolio managers?

Small-cap equities, especially in Europe and Japan. Fixed-income derivatives. Emerging markets (but in emerging markets, you'd have to pick countries rather than securities, since within-market correlations are very high).

The small cap space is pretty inefficient. I would say either there or maybe emerging markets.
