Real diamonds come with a certificate. It will be either AGS or GIA certified. These are the only two reputable institutes that grade diamonds. You must keep in mind, there are real diamonds that aren't worth crap and there are real diamonds that are extremely valuable. If you'd like to know more, feel free to contact me. OK?

Wow - great way to start off the 'engagement' - he gives you a ring and you run to a "jewerist" (you can't mean "jeweler", can you?) to check up on him immediately. Ever stop to think the real thing can be so goddamned expensive some guys simply can't afford it? What happened to the old "it's the thought that counts" line? Oh yeah, that's bullsh*t coming from you - say, how many orgasms have you faked for him, too? You must be loads of fun. All the mind games and checking up and baseless mistrust and deceit.
Hey here's a fun idea - tell him you ran out to check up on him and his ring -- that should be free entertainment. Might as well spill the beans on the fake moaning during sex, the daily examination of the ring for more "fake" evidence, and your conspiracy theory about how the "jewerist" is in on the whole thing.
Man - talk about opening a can of worms. Your stuff is wiggling all over the place.

I've never understood why some girls rush out to get the ring checked out.. I mean, if you love each other, and you truly want to spend the rest of your lives together, then the worth of the ring shouldn't matter at all.
However much the ring is worth, has nothing to do with his love for you. If you love him enough to marry him and spend forever together, then you should be spending time planning your wedding.. not worrying about whether or not the ring is "fake".
Be happy, and focus more on your relationship.. not the ring he gave you.

The stone might be real, but the band might me gold plated, and that's why the ring color seem to be "fading". Also, intead of white gold, it may be silver, which cause some people to experienmce a reation and the ring starts turning black or green.
If this is the case, then the jewelere is right, the ring is real (real gold, or real silver, real diamonds) but the plating is fading off.
My suggestion is to let the jewerly store replace the mounting/setting with something that is solid gold.
Good luck

I wouldnt say anything to him. Why break his heart. Perhaps he was just trying to make you feel super special at that time, but he didnt have the means to get something real. I know in a sense its a lie, but maybe there is no lie there. If a person verified the ring is real, then it probably is. Take it to another place if its bothering you and have it checked again. Good Luck

Don't break his balz, I'm certain he meant well. Maybe he wanted to get you a great ring, one you'd just go gaga over but simply couldn't afford it and thought he'd get you a great looking one, just not truly the real thing. His intentions were nobel and he meant well. Is this the worse he's done? If so, what's the big deal? As long as he truly loves you and treats you well then all is good, or should be, unless you're that materialistic.

I'm not sure why you would take it to be checked out to begin with? Are you marrying the man or the ring?
Leave him so he can find a woman that loves him and not diamonds.

have you ever cleaned it with some jewel cleaner.I mean if you had the ring from dec.2006 and have not washed it with any jewel cleaner yet ,then all the problem is that rings can get dirty and if you don't wash it it will stay dirty untill you clean it so if thats the problem go buy some hagerty jewel clean at a local drug store or pharmacy and clean it. it might cost 5.00 or more but its worth it. Perhaps maybe something is wrong, you took the ring he gave you to have it checked? Why? Have no faith in him? If you don't believe him or the first jeweler then take it to a second. Sometimes its the grade of gold used that causes it to tarnish. Or it could be the chemicals in your own body. Good luck

When he bought the ring, he would have gotten a certificate regarding the sizes, etc. of the diamonds. Ask to see it, and compare it to the one you got from the jeweller you took it to , to be appraised.
However, what if it CZ or not real gold? Would you love him less?
