Typical marxist thug dictator.
- Steals private property by nationalizing industries. Yeah, that'll keep investment coming into Venezuela. Just watch as capital and companies flee. Hello poverty!
- Imprisons political opponents. How typical of a tyrant. Just like Stalin, Mao, Castro, etc.
- Has shut down the free press. Tyrants don't like transparency - truth is never on their side.
- Is supporting the Marxist terrorists beleaguering his neighbors. War by proxy, typical tyrannical imperialism, to steal the freedom of other people.
He's trash. He's scum. And I hope the Venezuelan people suffer most harshly under him for many decades to come. They deserve it for voting this pisspot Stalin into power in the first place.

Shaking palms with a pig like Chavez (who's at the instant conserving thousands in prisons in Venezuala for wanting freedom there) became similar to exhibiting the international purely precisely what a giggling inventory Obama's distant places coverage has become. and of direction, the banana dictator Chavez pounced on the prospect by using giving President Obama a replica of latin American fiction which denounces the U.S. for supposedly enslaving correct usa which of direction is ridiculous. and of direction, like a stooge, Obama everyday the the fiction willingly making him look much extra like an uinprecendented buffoon.

Chavez is another routine robber baron of the south with his Socialistic concept of running a government. He claims to be for the downtrodden people when in actuality all he desires is power. Currently he is on a government authorized power trip that gives him total control of all affairs of government. He'll most likely won't easily let go of that power.
Chavez has yet to realize that to help the poor you need the rich. The rich generate revenue for a country. Their wealth provides opportunities to all the people. Elimination of the wealthy will make Venezuela a country of lazy non-producers that will end up in bankruptcy.
Additional Comment: I am amazed that folks here honor the most recent in a long line of two-bit South American leaders who have power for a while, then escape to the pages of history with the millions of dollars stolen from the people. And, he is a socialist who has not learned from history thinking he can run a country of people who have no incentive to excel. He will pass like many have before him.
I hate to say this because it sounds so trite, but to my US citizens who give Chavez all this praise and put down Bush, if you think he's such a great leader, why don't you move your a-s-s to Venezuela? If living here with such a poor and stupid leader is so bad, I'm sure Chavez and his crew will accept you with open arms! And, don't let the door hit you on the backside on your way out!

hahahaha, you guys are all making me laugh. Typical uneducated folks, don't know the difference between Communism and Socialism... that's ok though, small minds can't comprehend such things.
Chavez was democratically elected, Venezuela is a democratic nation... therefore he can't possibly be a dictator. Just becuase he supports democratic socialism in South America, and takes an active stance against Conservativism... that doesn't mean he's evil. It just means he disagrees with the current US administration.... actually it's democracy at its finest.
He has never started any wars, nor has disparity amongst his people increased. The standard of living in Venezuela is rising steadily (particularly for the poor) and national funding in Public Works is increasing. He's basically succeeding in everything Bush hasn't in his own country lol.
All in all, Chavez isn't a bad guy. He simply disagrees with the US administration.... what's so wrong about that? I'd much rather prefer a socialist leader like Chavez than a retarded leader like Bush.

He was your president - up until the day he got the power to rule through decree. Now he is your dictator.
And Venezuela's economy is getting trashed. The middle class is evaporating, the wealthy are moving all of their investments to other countries and the only jobs available are working for the government.
BTW - he wants to invade and take some islands that belong to Denmark. Anybody want to guess whose side the US will take? (A democracy that fought in Iraq with us or a dictatorship?)

The world needs strong leaders who are willing to stand up against American imperialism and maintain their autonomy.
The United States government does not care about democracy or freedom, they only care about protecting business interests. That is why the US has overthrown (often covertly) democratically-elected leaders and imposed dictators who will support US business interests (as documented in Overthrow: America's Century of Regime Change from Hawaii to Iraq.
Chavez needs to stand strong, as do the leaders of Iran and North Korea to retain the right to self-determination. Thomas Jefferson and the American Founding Fathers would be proud of Hugo Chavez.

He is a funny guy, but it's probably not so funny if you happen to live in Venezuela.
I admire his goals, and I think he is right to nationalize the petroleum industry. However, just like Putin, he is becoming increasingly authoritarian and repressive of dissent.
I do also like that he is at least proving to be a good strategic counterbalance to the US, though I pray it never amounts to violence. Frankly, we here in the US need to be reminded that our arrogant foreign policy has real geopolitical consequences. That being said, I fear this could lead to a tailspin into violence and that is jsut no good.
Sigh...overall I guess I admire the guy's goals and confidence but I think Chavez desperately needs to learn some humility himself.

A social activist with an agenda. He wants to use the profits from the oil company to create a utopian socialist environment. It works only as long as the strong leader can survive the upheavals of political unrest so prevalent in your country.
He's dangerous in that he views every move made by the US as impending danger. Narcissitic paranoid leaders always fail. He will too and you'll be crying for US Aid once again.

He gave the oil in Venezuela to the people and cut poverty in half with the revenue and tried to give the U.S. oil after Katrina but Bush refused and let us pay the higher gas prices. OPEC don`t like him because he puts people before profit.
