Oh Galaxie Girl has the formula: Get rid of unions.
Right. Then companies can bring call centers back to the good ole USA, hire 10-year-olds and make them work from 5am to midnight for $.49 an hour. And lock all the doors and windows so they can save money on expensive and frivolous heat and air conditioning...
Of course, I'm exaggerating, but who can take an answer like that seriously?
The real answer is to hit them where the so-called free market doesn't shine. Don't use companies that outsource jobs they can easily do in the U.S.
Legislation will likely backfire or just become unenforced. People need to start knowing and investigating the business practices of the companies they patronize.
Be an informed and vocal consumer. They outsource because they know we (Americans) don't care. All we care about is the lowest prices and not reading the fine print.

There are things we can do:
1) Talk to our representatives both state and nationally about outsourcing, but it will take a mass movement to get anything done cause its all about the bottom line.
2) We can also act on a personal level by refusing to do business with companies that outsource cheap exploitative labor abroad.
3) we can NOT vote for politicians (especially republicans) who favor the needs of big corporations over jobs for their constituents...
oh and and don't listen to people like Galaxy girl that would rather have low wage jobs taken away from Americans to benefit the big money corporations here even tho she supports the "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" party?

So, Romney is the only one plagued via this? You do comprehend that MANY businesses outsource to different countries. The did the till now and nevertheless do because of the fact with all the criticisms on the two aspects, no person has replaced it! not the GOP, Democrats nor Obama have addressed this in any respect, yet Democrats are making use of it to attack Romney. Mildly hypocritical i might say. The Warlock

I think the problem could be solved by the Indian government in cooperation with ALL countries with sub-minimum labor rates by allowing the people who are doing high tech jobs in India to unionize and bring their salaries up to near American levels. For that right, (which would be fought to the death by the multinationals by saying they are going elsewhere), perhaps said workers would be a source of additional taxes to educate and ameliorate the conditions of the "other" India that remains in poverty. Which side are you on?? Which side are you on? Bill Gates???

lower business taxes so that corporations have more money to invest into labor. Try this for a few years and see if corporations horde the money instead. If they do, then impose fines on them or raise their corp. taxes for outsourcing.

Get rid of unions. They're keeping wages and benefits for stupid jobs unreasonably high. People who have jobs that anyone can do should not be getting a bunch of money and benefits. Anyone can answer a phone call - Americans answering phone calls do not deserve bunches of benefits for doing simpleton jobs.

Or the flip-side of Blackacre's argument, make it corportatively unfriendly to outsource jobs. Tax/fine businesses that eliminate American jobs and ship them anywhere overseas.
