Dear xlchamp,

It was surprising (i've been a UK fan forever- 2nd favorite school behind my alma mater- UCLA).

i think for the last couple of months rumors having been spreading about Tubby. For UK it might work out in the long run depending on who replaces him: right now i'm hearing: Travis Ford from UMASS and Mark Few from Gonzanga as possible replacements. It could infuse some fresh blood... i've also heard Billy Donovan and Rick Pitino (but both of those are quite unlikely scenarios).

The truth is Kentucky was about 50/50 with Tubby- (half the fans wanted him back, half wanted someone new). i would say though most of the fans know he was a great coach who is well respected and loved. i just thought if he left it would be for a higher profiled job.

Go UK-- i'll still be watching the Wildcats and Ashley Judd in the stands!

How could he do this? No offense but as a Kentucky fan (and I'm one too) we have no one to blame but the bunch of spoiled boosters and fans that forced him out. I give him kudos for leaving on his own and keeping some dignity, because he deserves to be treated with some respect. I'm not that shocked because he has been very very adimate about keeping his staff and that was Barnhart's ultimatium.....get rid of the staff or else.

As a Kentucky fan I'm sad that it came down to this, but you can't knock him for going somewhere that respects what he can do. We'll be seeing Minnesota in the tournament and he'll be able to be happy with a program that doesn't expect him to be perfect every year.

As far as who will replace him, apparently Tom Crean from Marquette is at the top of the list. I've also heard Travis Ford as well (which would be logical with his UK ties).

But then again, we all know Billy Donovan didn't sign his contract with Florida. Ohhhhhh how tantilizing would that be??? Hahaha, even though it's not likely.

Quit threatening to fire him and he would feel a bit more welcome.
